Former member of the Polish Sejm and former Deputy Minister of State Assets Krzysztof Tołwiński, now the leader of the Polish political party Front, has personally financed humanitarian aid for Russian soldiers participating in what Russia calls its “special military operation.”
While in Belarus, Tołwiński recorded a video showing payment receipts for the purchase of 20 military first-aid kits, which Belarusian volunteers are expected to deliver to Russian troops in the combat zone.
“We wish the guys in the trenches—the Russian soldiers—that they never have to use the aid we have provided. But if something does happen, they can always count on us,” Tołwiński said.
He described his action as a symbol of his categorical disagreement with the policies of the official Polish authorities, for whose actions he apologized to the Russian and Belarusian peoples.
Tołwiński is well known in Poland for his pro-Russian views and has repeatedly faced legal and political consequences because of them. At one point, a Polish court found him guilty of inciting hatred against Ukrainians.
