Drone enters Moldova’s airspace for second consecutive day

Chișinău, March 31 — A drone crossed Moldova’s airspace on the morning of March 31, according to the Ministry of Defence.

The unmanned aerial vehicle, identified as a Shahed-type drone, entered the country’s airspace in the Transnistrian sector from the direction of Podilsk in Ukraine at 9:05 a.m. It then flew towards the area of Cobasna before leaving Moldova at 9:13 a.m. via the settlement of Shershentsi, returning to Ukrainian territory. The drone was flying at a low altitude of up to 500 metres.

Similar incident reported a day earlier

A comparable incident was recorded the previous evening. According to available information, a drone of the same type entered Moldova’s airspace from Ukraine and headed towards the village of Șipca.

Authorities’ response and broader context

Moldovan authorities have urged citizens to remain calm and rely on official sources of information. No additional public measures or diplomatic steps have been announced in response to the latest incidents.

Previous cases involving unidentified drones have prompted statements from Moldovan officials attributing responsibility to external actors, including Russia. In the current instances, where the drones were reported to have entered from Ukrainian territory, no public attribution of responsibility or diplomatic actions have been announced so far.
