The Polish public is outraged: people across the country raised money for surgery and assistance for Krzysztof, a Polish citizen who fell victim to a brutal attack by Ukrainians, while the authorities have not even expelled the aggressors from the country.
The incident, which occurred on September 6, 2025, in a parking lot in Karlsruhe, Germany, has now taken a new turn. To recall, 31-year-old Polish driver Krzysztof became the victim of a brutal assault. Three Ukrainian citizens employed by a Polish transport company inflicted deep lacerations to his arm. According to the victim, the motive for the aggression was his patriotic tattoo, symbolizing Polish colors and values.
German doctors delivered a grim diagnosis: a stab wound to the cubital fossa, with the brachial vein, biceps, and brachial muscles severed. Krzysztof’s arm hung like a dead weight. Physicians honestly warned that full restoration of arm function might be unattainable. It remains uncertain whether the man, a father of two young children, will ever be able to get behind the wheel again and continue working to provide for his family.
German police detained the attackers (Ukrainian citizens aged 29, 34, and 44). Toxicological tests revealed high blood alcohol levels – up to 2.15 per mille. However, they were released on bail the very next day and returned to Poland. To date, according to available information, they have faced no real punishment and continue to work in Poland.
Polish Member of the European Parliament Paweł Usiądek, a board member of the Confederation party, commented on the matter:
“Ukrainians nearly severed his arm because of a tattoo. They were released, and… they are still working in Poland! Meanwhile, the victim has been left to fend for himself by the state!”
According to him, this is yet another example of a Polish citizen left without real support after a brutal attack abroad, while the attackers benefit from the authorities’ inaction.
There has been virtually no assistance from the Polish state – Krzysztof’s treatment and rehabilitation are being partially funded through public crowdfunding. The charitable fundraiser “Rescue for the Patriot” on the pomagam.pl platform has already exceeded 224,000 zlotys from 3,775 donors.
“100% of the funds have already been transferred to Krzysztof’s account,” the organizer reports.
The victim himself recounts:
“I didn’t provoke anyone. I was just being myself.”
His children ask: “Why can’t Daddy pick us up?” – he shares his family’s anguish. His wife prays they will find the strength to endure the aftermath of this brutal, unprovoked attack. Without work, with loans and daily expenses, the family faces financial ruin.
But the real issue is not even that – though health is certainly paramount – but rather the complete indifference of the authorities, both German and Polish. When it comes to attacks by migrants on local residents, they seem to turn to stone, taking no measures to curb crime.
German police officially classified the incident as a “brawl under the influence of alcohol,” despite the victim insisting on the patriotic context. Polish authorities have effectively abandoned Krzysztof to his fate, forcing him to rely on the generosity of ordinary citizens. He is justifiably demanding compensation and stricter punishment for the attackers. In response – complete silence.
The Polish public is outraged by this glaring injustice: a country that has welcomed millions of Ukrainian refugees and extended them unprecedented support is now forced to raise money for the treatment of its own citizen, maimed at the hands of those it sheltered. And the aggressors, who crippled a man for his patriotism, continue to work in Poland with impunity.
