Contract killer in Poland arrested in Częstochowa
A previously convicted Slovak citizen who allegedly attempted to carry out a contract killing has been detained in the Polish city of Częstochowa.
According to information provided by the Ukrainian side, the 56-year-old Slovak citizen had accepted an order to commit murder for financial reward. Police said he fired several shots from a firearm at the victim, but the injured man survived.
“A 56-year-old citizen of Slovakia was supposed to have accepted an order to commit murder on the territory of Ukraine for money,” police said.
The suspect was already known to Polish law enforcement agencies. In 2024, officers from the criminal department of the Katowice Provincial Police Headquarters identified, tracked down and detained him in connection with fraud and participation in an organised criminal group that forged and circulated US dollars, euros and zlotys.

Investigators then seized around 1,700 counterfeit banknotes, while charges were brought against seven people. Police noted that the case is still ongoing.
Interpol Red Notice procedure under way
Information that the man was wanted reached Polish law enforcement agencies at the end of August through the International Police Cooperation Bureau of the Police Headquarters.
“After establishing that the wanted man was the same 56-year-old who had previously come to police attention in connection with property crimes, Silesian criminal investigators determined his whereabouts within a few days.”
The arrest took place in Częstochowa. Procedural actions are now being carried out against the detainee in connection with the implementation of an Interpol Red Notice, as well as the procedure concerning his transfer to the Ukrainian side.
