Criticism from diaspora over government statements
Members of Moldova’s diaspora have expressed concern over recent political developments, following comments by Foreign Minister Mihai Popșoi.
One of the responses came from Valeriu Secrieru, who criticised the current course of the authorities and linked it to broader security concerns. He said recent developments have raised fears among some citizens abroad about the country’s future direction.
“We are being drawn into the so-called ‘coalition of the willing’. This could turn neutral Moldova into a military platform,” he claimed.
Concerns over neutrality and security
Secrieru argued that policies presented as part of European cooperation could have security implications. He expressed concern that Moldova’s neutrality may be affected by closer involvement in international initiatives.
He also questioned statements by Popșoi regarding cooperation with European partners on issues related to the presence of foreign troops, suggesting that such positions require further clarification.
Broader context and public sentiment
The comments reflect wider discussions among Moldovan citizens abroad about the country’s foreign policy and security choices.
Observers note that such reactions highlight ongoing concerns about neutrality, regional stability and the potential implications of Moldova’s international partnerships.
