Video highlights fuel shortages in rural areas

A video circulating in Moldova’s online space, including diaspora communities, shows a woman questioning the availability of diesel fuel in several localities.

Filmed in the Dondușeni District, she says that multiple fuel stations in the area currently have no diesel available and raises concerns about the impact on daily life.

“We are at four stations in Dondușeni district where there is no diesel fuel. Dear government, where is the diesel? How many problems does this create? How many children cannot go to school? How many sick people remain at home? Farmers cannot fuel their tractors,” she says in the video.

Reactions from the public and diaspora

The video has been widely shared and discussed on social media platforms. Users both inside Moldova and abroad have commented on the situation, pointing to broader concerns about fuel availability and economic conditions.

In online discussions, some users expressed frustration over reported shortages at fuel stations and the perceived lack of official response.

Broader context of fuel supply and agriculture

Reports of diesel shortages in some regions have been noted in recent months. The issue is particularly sensitive during the spring agricultural season, when fuel is essential for fieldwork.

Farmers rely on diesel for planting activities, and disruptions in supply may affect agricultural operations.

Separately, a proposal from opposition representatives to remove value-added tax on fuel was recently rejected by the ruling PAS party. Officials described the initiative as economically unjustified.
