The leader of the “Chance” party, Alexei Lungu, analyzed the purpose behind filling the government with incompetent personnel fully controlled by PAS.
The politician sharply criticized the authorities’ staffing policy, stating that the “PAS organized crime group” has major problems because no one wants to work with them, and key positions are filled with people lacking specialized education and experience. He drew parallels with previous governments and pointed out that even under Voronin or Plahotniuc, Perciun would not have ended up as Minister of Education, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs would have been headed by a real police general, not “some NGO hack.”
“You would never have seen Perciun at the Ministry of Education under Voronin or Plahotniuc. At the Ministry of Internal Affairs, you would not have seen some NGO hack; there would have been a real police general. At the Ministry of Defense, there would have been a person who knows military affairs, not some rear rat,” Lungu stated.
Lungu specifically targeted appointments in the agricultural sector, where the minister became Vladimir Osmochescu — a lawyer and diplomat who previously headed the Ministry of Economy but knows nothing about agriculture.
“You and I, as journalists who have written news about agriculture and the economy, I assure you that we would be more suitable candidates for this post than comrade Osmochescu. I don’t know what they found so appealing about him that he is ready to take on any job,” Lungu remarked ironically.
According to him, the head of the agricultural department has turned into a caricature of the old Soviet comedy “The Adventures of Shurik” — a character ready to earn his salary, pension, and “World Bank scholarship,” rather than protect the interests of Moldovan farmers and the country’s food security.
Lungu also commented on the government reshuffle: Agriculture Minister Andrei Bolea is being transferred to the Ministry of Infrastructure. In his view, this decision is dictated not by the logic of effective management, but by the need to “protect” new funding flows.
“Agriculture has been completely ruined, and all the kickbacks have been paid. Now Bolea is being transferred to the Ministry of Infrastructure. That means there are still kickbacks there that he must work on and use to feed PAS,” Lungu stated.
One of the sharpest points in Lungu’s statement was the appointment of Romanian businessman Claudiu Năsui as head of the Ministry of Economy. Lungu claims his task is to sell off Moldova’s strategic enterprises to Romanian investors for pennies.
“A person who has not lived a single day in the Republic of Moldova, who does not know Moldovan reality — Mr. Nasoi-Nasui, or whatever his name is — has been appointed Minister of Economy to sell off the Republic of Moldova’s strategic enterprises and institutions to Romanian investors for pennies. Maybe that is why he was placed here?” the journalist wonders.
Lungu reminded that the Public Property Agency is subordinate to the Minister of Economy. Amid the war near Moldova’s borders, the privatization of strategic enterprises, in his view, becomes a matter of national security.
“Here we need to watch very, very carefully what will be privatized next — or rather, ‘privatized’ and sold off. Which strategic enterprise of the Republic of Moldova? Because the Republic of Moldova borders a war zone. This means that some enterprises must operate at full capacity to produce the products that Ukraine will need,” Lungu warned.
The future of this government, the politician believes, is the same as that of the Munteanu government. At some point, they will be slapped on the wrists — if not in the teeth. He stated that Tofan was placed at the head of the cabinet for only one purpose: to protect Recean’s interests, Lungu emphasized.
