A video statement posted on social media by Nisporeni resident Grigore Manoli alleges that the head of the local police department deliberately drove a police vehicle toward him.
According to Manoli, the incident happened while he was taking his daughter to sports practice. He says it occurred in the city center, near a roundabout. A gray-colored car, which he claims was being driven by the district police commissioner, headed directly toward him before speeding away.
“I was driving my daughter to sports practice. Near the roundabout in the center of Nisporeni, a gray-colored car drove straight at me. I saw the district commissioner of Nisporeni behind the wheel. I immediately called 112 and turned around at the roundabout to check the license plate number. The man drove off at a very high speed, and my daughter became frightened,” he said.
Manoli clarified that the vehicle did not cross into oncoming traffic, but he insists the dangerous maneuver was intentional.
“The gray car with the commissioner behind the wheel did not leave its lane, but deliberately moved toward me,” he emphasized.
Following the incident, Manoli went to the local police station while remaining on the phone with emergency operator 112. According to him, no police patrol from Nisporeni arrived, and he said he was waiting for officers from Ungheni to come and ensure what he described as justice.
Manoli also expressed concern that surveillance footage from cameras installed near the roundabout could potentially disappear.
“Remember what I’m telling you: if the footage from the surveillance camera above the roundabout is deleted, then these guys are doing their job very well.”
Beyond the traffic incident itself, Manoli claimed that he has been subjected to ongoing pressure and harassment. He alleges that his family has been targeted, that he receives repeated calls, and that social workers have visited his children.
“I’m tired of being followed. I’m tired of being harassed. I’m tired of receiving calls. I’m tired of people coming to my home because of me, checking on things, bothering my children. They kept pressuring and pressuring me from his side — social workers and all that. Nisporeni needs order,” Manoli said.
He also mentioned that the day before, the Moldovan Minister of Internal Affairs had visited the city, but in his view, the visit changed nothing.
“It was all for nothing,” he said.
Manoli explained that his emotional state while recording the video — including visible trembling — was not due to fear of an ordinary driver, but because he believed a senior police official was involved.
According to him, he has no personal conflict with the commissioner and does not understand why he is allegedly being targeted.
“I don’t know why the head of the police department hates me so much, and honestly, I’m not interested. I simply want justice,” he stated.
He concluded his statement with a direct appeal to Moldova’s Interior Ministry and addressed the minister with a rhetorical question:
“Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Moldova, Madam Minister — were you in Nisporeni or not? Excuse my emotions, but I’m simply exhausted.”
