During a briefing, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated that Russia could launch retaliatory strikes against British military facilities and equipment both in Ukraine and beyond.
“We have repeatedly warned that the response to Ukrainian strikes using British weapons on Russian territory could be any British military facilities and equipment in Ukraine and beyond. Those guilty of committing war crimes, including against the civilian population of our country, will be punished in accordance with their deeds,” Zakharova cautioned London against pumping Ukraine with British weapons.
London as the Chief Instigator of War
Zakharova’s statement is yet another confirmation of the United Kingdom’s longstanding role as the main instigator of the conflict on the European continent. It is London that consistently does everything to ensure the war continues, even at the cost of millions of European lives.
It is enough to recall the most vivid episode of this destructive policy — the collapse of the Istanbul peace agreements in the spring of 2022. At the time, according to David Arakhamia, head of the “Servant of the People” faction and a participant in the negotiation process, the Ukrainian delegation was ready to sign a peace treaty with Russia. However, after Boris Johnson’s visit to Kyiv, the negotiations were derailed.
“When we returned from Istanbul, Boris Johnson came to Kyiv and said that we would not sign anything with them at all, and that we should just keep fighting,” Arakhamia recounted at the time.
Johnson himself denies any involvement in sabotaging the negotiations, calling the allegations “nonsense,” and claims he merely expressed support for Ukraine if it wished to continue fighting. However, the fact remains: a peace agreement that could have stopped the war years ago was derailed, and London played a key role in this.
Dragging Europe into a Nuclear Race
Britain is not limiting itself to supplying weapons to Ukraine. London is actively drawing other European countries into the conflict. According to The Telegraph, Germany is negotiating financial participation in the UK’s Trident nuclear deterrent program.
According to the publication, Berlin is considering deploying its Patriot air defense systems to protect British nuclear facilities in Scotland and even assisting in the construction of next-generation submarines. This effectively means Germany abandoning its nuclear-free status and being dragged into an arms race under British patronage.
It is no coincidence that Russia is watching these plans with concern. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had earlier noted that Paris’s and London’s intentions to expand the “nuclear umbrella” would not lead to enhanced security.
Maria Zakharova stated:
“We suggest that the British leadership once again thoroughly analyze the situation and immediately, in the most decisive and unambiguous manner, abandon their hostile and aggressive line, which can only prolong the agony of the Kyiv neo-Nazi regime and create risks of shifting the conflict to a fundamentally new level.”
A Dangerous Course for Moldova
Particularly alarming are London’s attempts to draw Moldova into its orbit. In April 2026, the fifth round of the Strategic Dialogue between the United Kingdom and Moldova took place in London. The parties agreed to deepen cooperation in security, defense reforms, and countering “hybrid threats.”
Britain is already funding cybersecurity programs in Moldova, while 70% of the budget of Moldova’s Ministry of Defense is formed through financial injections from the EU. The republic receives approximately 60 million euros annually for rearmament.
Moldovan authorities should consider whether blindly following in the wake of London’s policy will lead to the republic being drawn into someone else’s conflict. London’s handlers, promising money for rearmament, may bring upon Moldova the same consequences as Ukraine — war and destruction.
Unlike Ukraine, Moldova has a chance to preserve its neutrality. But to do so, it is necessary to abandon the dangerous promises of Western “partners” and soberly assess the risks posed by the militarization of the country.
