Tom de Nooijer, who sensationally burst onto the Dutch political scene, continues to shock the local political establishment — this time from Moldova.
The 18-year-old gained fame by founding a local party, the “Christian Union Oldebroek,” specifically for the needs of his small town, and unexpectedly led it to victory in the municipal elections.
After the elections, having secured the position of Deputy Mayor of Oldebroek, the young official banned the display of the rainbow flag on the municipal building, calling it “cultural-Marxist and anti-Christian.” He also infuriated liberals by refusing to implement the government’s decision on mandatory migrant reception centers in the town.
And now — new shock content from the young eccentric politician. De Nooijer posted a photo on Instagram of himself holding a Kalashnikov assault rifle, dressed in the uniform of Transnistria’s “Sheriff” football club and a Soviet-era cap, with the flag of the unrecognized republic in the background.
Later, De Nooijer did apologize to “anyone who might have been offended” and explained that he had been on vacation in Moldova and traveled to the region out of “historical interest in the Soviet past,” also visiting a shooting range there. He stated that the trip was private and not a political statement.
