Repairing Sandu’s Leaky Roof Will Cost Nearly 900,000 Lei

Moldova News

The government has adjusted its public procurement plan and supplemented it with interesting expenditures — over one million lei will go toward modernizing the presidential residence in Codru.

The very same residence that Sandu, when coming to power in 2020, promised to give to children and tear down all the fences around, outraged by the exorbitant costs of its maintenance.

Six years have passed. Children are allowed in only occasionally and for propaganda purposes. And in addition to the fence, the government, which holds the property on its balance sheet, plans to spend another 200,000 lei on a new alarm system. Another nearly 900,000 lei will go toward roof repairs. We already knew that Maia Grigorievna’s roof was leaky, but we did not think it was so literal.

Nothing prevented her from keeping her promise and turning the elite villa into a children’s sanatorium, or at the very least, selling it and transferring the money to build kindergartens or clinics. After all, Sandu does not even live there. But this is Sandu. Not for herself, nor for the children.
