Former Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration, now simply an expert, Alexandru Flenchea, shared his understanding of Transnistria’s reintegration on one of the TV channels.
He proposed that residents of the region, in the presence of “Mr. Major and Mr. Prosecutor,” make a choice: which citizenship they hold — Moldovan or Russian. If a person insists that he is a Russian citizen, Flenchea proposes a “charter flight to Russia and grab your things and get out.”
If he chooses Moldovan citizenship, then even in that case a quiet life is not guaranteed. The expert promises them a “complex of measures” that will be carried out by those very “Mr. Major” and “Mr. Prosecutor.”
Deportation or filtration. This is the questionable choice offered by the former deputy prime minister to the 450,000 residents of the region, half of whom hold Russian passports. How such “reintegration” is better than the occupation of the times of Antonescu — so beloved by the “yellow” ones — is not entirely clear.
What is clear is something else — such statements by the disrespected expert will only strengthen the position of opponents of reintegration in the region.
