This weekend, an event that its organizers describe as the Wallachian Gates National Socialist Black Metal Festival is scheduled to take place in a Romanian county.
The exact location has not been disclosed. Organizers are keeping it strictly confidential and say it will only be revealed privately to those who purchase tickets. According to the article, the event will be held without official authorization, as no permit application has been submitted. Organizers have also imposed restrictions on photography and video recording, allowing attendees to film only the performing musicians.
Despite its declared theme, the organizers insist that the festival will be non-political and that no prohibited symbols will be displayed. However, the article notes that the National Socialist black metal (NSBM) subgenre has been widely described as being associated with white nationalism, antisemitism, National Socialism, racism, racial segregation, and aesthetics inspired by Satanism or paganism. The article therefore argues that, even if banned symbols are absent from the stage, the song lyrics are unlikely to be politically neutral.
Romania’s Gendarmerie has stated that it is currently unable to take specific action because the location of the event remains unknown. Authorities say they do not yet have confirmed information about the festival but are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond if necessary.
