Bomb threat forces another evacuation at Chisinau airport

Chișinău airport bomb threat disrupts passengers and transport

The building of Eugen Doga International Airport was evacuated again today after another report of an alleged explosive device. Passengers who were already on board aircraft were not allowed to leave the planes, while trolleybus traffic near the capital’s airport was restricted. Vehicles ran only as far as Aeroport Street.

The reason was the now familiar one: a message claiming that an explosive device had been planted in the airport building. After roughly two hours, the airport returned to normal operations following an emergency inspection. Specialised services found no suspicious objects during the check.

The schedule of the nearest departures was, of course, changed after the incident. Passengers planning to travel were advised to follow official announcements and check their flight status on the online departures board.

Questions remain after another false alarm

So far, there has been no chorus from pro-government media outlets claiming that Russia is to blame for everything. Perhaps that will still come. There is also another question: whether anything landed at the airport at that moment that the authorities may have preferred ordinary citizens not to see. Such precedents have happened before.

For now, the latest Chișinău airport bomb threat looks like another disruption in a series of familiar alerts: evacuation, inspection, no explosives found, delays for passengers and little public explanation beyond the standard official procedure.
