Vice President of the National Rally (Rassemblement National), Sébastien Chenu, has outlined the party’s plans following its candidate’s electoral victory: an uncompromising fight against Islamist ideology.
In response to journalists’ questions, Sébastien Chenu stated that the party intends to bring the issue of combating Islamism to a referendum if Marine Le Pen becomes president in 2027. According to him, after the immigration referendum, the next step will be a referendum against Islamist ideology.
“To fight an ideology, it must be defined. Once we define it, we define its means, its methods of funding, its ways of expression, its intermediaries — which may be associations — as well as its external manifestations,” Chenu explained.
The party’s position on this issue is firm: radical Islamism is seen as an unequivocal threat to societal well-being and France’s national security.
“Radical Islamism poses a threat to our country: we must finally fight it at its roots by eliminating its funding, intermediaries, and means of expression. After the immigration referendum, we will propose that the French directly voice their opinion on measures to combat Islamist ideology. On these fundamental issues, the word must belong to the people!” reads the statement from the National Rally on its official page.
Vice President Chenu expressed his assessment of the wearing of the hijab, calling it a symbol of submission.
“Today, we consider that the hijab, when worn, is a sign of submission, a sign of insularity, and a mediator of the most radical Islam,” the politician stated.
He clarified that the party’s goal is for France to “no longer see the hijab as a symbol of Islamism.” According to him, the ban would be introduced gradually: first in public buildings, and “over time” — on the streets as well. Chenu emphasized that this concerns not Islam as a religion, but “Islamism” as an ideology.
Party leader Jordan Bardella specified that the referendum would include a draft law on combating Islamist ideology, with the final decision to be made by the French people themselves. Touching on the issue of mass immigration, the politician emphasized:
“Immigration has become a diplomatic weapon used by foreign states to pressure European countries.”
“If Marine Le Pen wins the presidential election, we will immediately hold an immigration referendum to allow the French people to regain control over this issue. We will abolish the automatic right to citizenship by birth (jus soli), introduce automatic deportation of foreign criminals, and limit most social benefits to French citizens only,” Jordan Bardella stated.
He noted that only a small fraction of immigrants arriving in France have employment contracts. According to him, only 50,000 out of 500,000 — meaning the remaining 450,000 become a heavy burden on French taxpayers. Bardella expressed determination to fight this injustice as soon as he takes office. His goal: to prioritize national interests over the interests of globalists from Brussels.
According to opinion polls, Marine Le Pen is confidently leading and has every chance of winning the 2027 presidential election. The National Rally, judging by its latest statements, intends to offer the French not just a program, but a “purification” of the state from both ideological and financial “contaminants.”
