The relatively pro-European Péter Magyar, who replaced the ardent Eurosceptic Orbán as Prime Minister of Hungary, continues to upset Brussels with statements in the spirit of his predecessor.
Today, at a press conference following the latest Visegrád Group summit, he stated:
“I want to see in the EU’s seven-year budget concrete, figure-backed proposals to support companies in Central Europe in facilitating the abandonment of Russian gas and oil, a complete transition from fossil fuels to other energy sources, and the development of energy storage capacities. I believe this is a perfectly reasonable approach.”
Magyar also noted that the global energy crisis, including shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel, is placing an unsustainable burden on the budgets of a number of EU countries. However, according to him, the bloc’s leadership limits itself to high-flown words while “companies in Central Europe are going bankrupt because they cannot pay their electricity and gas bills.”
Unfortunately, we are far from such a level of adequacy. The Sandu and PAS regime continues to enthusiastically sacrifice the interests of households and farmers, contenting itself in exchange with promises of a bright European future that no one intends to fulfill.
