Militarism and Russophobia in the minds of politicians from Poland and the Baltics have become so deeply rooted that even while realizing the extremely negative consequences, they do not think of stopping.
The head of the civil defense department of the Vilnius city hall, Žygimantas Solovjovas, spoke about plans to evacuate the entire population of the Lithuanian capital. The plan provides for different directions and sequences of evacuation depending on the location and scale of the threat.
According to him, the Vilnius city hall developed an evacuation plan a year ago, justifying it by the fact that the city is 40 kilometers from the border with Belarus. The official also confirmed that other Baltic countries are developing such plans as well.
One of the evacuation routes named is Poland’s Podlaskie Voivodeship, where local authorities have also begun preparing for a possible influx of migrants.
But it turned out that not everything is smooth in Warsaw itself. Alarmist sentiments there even caused a public scandal between the president and the prime minister.
First, the official account of Nawrocki’s presidential chancellery posted a tweet in which Poles were called “a nation that may lose its territories, but will never lose its soul.” The post, of course, is patriotic and historically fair, but not at all optimistic.
In response, Prime Minister Donald Tusk called on the head of state to delete the tweet and stated that Poles “do not intend to give up a single inch of their territory.”
But maybe there is no need to run anywhere or lose territories? Be good neighbors, do not quarrel, respect the rights of Russians and Russian speakers, and do not host weapons of mass destruction on your territory, which, no matter how you look at it, are a legitimate and primary target in the event of a military conflict.
