It turns out that journalist Ecaterina Coval-Ceptănaru, whose candidacy was approved today by the SIS for the vacant position of head of “Teleradio-Moldova,” is also a cousin of Maia Sandu.
Previously, in 2025, she already held the position of director of the public television channel Moldova 1, but lasted only three months. In July of last year, she resigned amid a scandal involving the then-director of TRM, Vlad Țurcanu.
At the time, having just started the job, she accused her superior of a number of violations, including corruption, but the Supervisory and Development Council did not side with her. In the end, the young and ambitious journalist chose to resign.
Already in May of this year, Țurcanu himself was forced to leave his post under pressure from pro-government activists and propagandists, who never forgave him for Romania’s low score at Eurovision.
And now the ambitious cousin of the head of state has reappeared on the scene. Knowing how our system works, there is no doubt that she will become the ninth relative of Sandu to hold a high-ranking position and will soon occupy the office of her former boss — the very one she failed to oust on the first attempt.
