Anastasia Taburceanu Returned Money to MoldATSA but Did Not Cover All Losses

Advanced

MoldATSA has confirmed that President Sandu’s cousin returned not only the salary she received but also all bonuses, allowances, and other payments related to remuneration.

The money was returned in four installments – on July 6, 9, 13, and 14. The total amount paid was 1,101,766.12 lei. That is exactly how much the head of state’s relative earned for a job at which she never once showed up over the course of a year.

The government claims everything was done legally. Finance Minister Victoria Belous stated on the air of Realitatea that “this amount may be recorded as income, there is nothing illegal about it, and anyone can do it.”

Surprisingly, our minister, with her vast experience in tax authorities, upon taking office, completely forgot about such a thing as taxation.

Taburceanu returned to her employer the salary and other payments she had received. However, when paying her that salary, the employer paid income tax, social security, and health insurance contributions on her behalf. She did not cover these expenses and consequently caused damage to the employer. Moreover, if the amount contributed by Taburceanu is recorded as MoldATSA’s income (and how else could it be?), the enterprise will be obliged to pay taxes on that income as well.

Thus, even after returning the illegally obtained money, President Sandu’s cousin still caused damage to the enterprise. Twice over.
