An explosion accompanied by a bright flash of light occurred in the village of Colonița near Chișinău.
The incident happened this morning, at around 04:20. People woke up from a loud bang, and reports poured into the 112 emergency service. Police arrived and checked the area. But, according to law enforcement reports, they have still not found anything suspicious. No traces of an explosion, no debris, no objects that could raise alarm. Checks were conducted not only in Colonița but also in Dolinnoe and Maximovca.
Head of the General Police Inspectorate Viorel Cernăuțeanu confirms: there was an explosion. But where exactly — he does not know. Drones, according to him, are circling over the area, trying to at least determine the trajectory (of what?). Cernăuțeanu himself admitted that police have no specifics about the object that exploded.
“It was an explosion accompanied by a flash and bright light,” he stated.

“According to police, this is a small fragment, but analyzing other videos, other video recordings — it was an explosion. Colleagues responded at the first stage, responded as part of calls to the zone where actions were taken to localize and identify, unfortunately not everything was localized, and at the moment additional teams were there. Drone teams were deployed, which film from above so that we can see at least the place, the trajectory, where it was, but indeed it was an explosion accompanied by a source, strong light.
What it was, we therefore cannot confirm in detail regarding the object that it was. Of course, as soon as we have details, we will return to this topic.”
The information, as usual, is preliminary.
Well, an explosion is an explosion. Is there little that explodes? Firecrackers, bombs, air conditioners of all kinds. Ukraine is right next door: there, several explosions happen every day in every city, big and small — and nothing, no one drags the defense minister out of bed over it. But here there was just one — and they whipped up a panic.
By half past nine, the mayor of Colonița, Angela Zaporojan, woke up. She stated that the explosion did not occur on the village’s territory.
And here a legitimate question arises: where is Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi? The clock says noon. Where is his comment? Where is at least some statement that no suspicious objects flew over Moldova’s airspace? Or, conversely, that they did? A representative of the Defense Ministry, Marin Butuc, appeared before the alarmed public. He said that neither drones nor missiles were detected in the airspace. But Nosatîi himself — is silent. Silent in Russian, silent in Romanian. He has buried himself in his radar — and silence. Maybe he is still sleeping.
A painfully familiar picture. Last time, when a similar incident occurred, the minister also preferred to stay silent, and people learned the information from the media. Just as Sandu learned about her relative from the news. And now: while police sort things out, while drones fly, while Colonița residents wonder what blew up under their windows, the head of the Defense Ministry maintains a proud silence. The authorities and security services remain silent.
And time passes. Several hours have already gone by, but no one knows anything and no one informs the people. Chișinău mayor Ion Ceban has already demanded that the central authorities and, in particular, the National Security Council come forward with explanations.

Police, meanwhile, remind: if you see something suspicious — do not approach, do not touch, move away and call 112. The advice is reasonable. But it would be nice if it were accompanied by a coherent comment from those responsible for the country’s security. But, apparently, that will be a long time coming. And then Sandu will appear and habitually announce that it is all Kremlin machinations (what — sleeping pills in Nosatîi’s evening tea?), so the Foreign Ministry has already summoned the Russian ambassador. The public will be shown “drone debris” with a retouched trident — and the topic will be closed. How many times this has already happened — too many to count.
