ANTA Responds to Carriers: Tariffs Will Be Revised by June

Moldova News

The National Road Transport Agency (ANTA) has commented on the recent statements by road carriers, who had threatened to begin gradually cancelling routes as early as this week.

ANTA Calls the Statements “Emotional”

The agency described the carriers’ remarks as “emotional” and said they “mislead the public and deliberately omit important information.”

According to the agency, the new tariff calculation methodology had been approved by the government back in October and entered into force on March 1, 2026.

New Tariffs Only in June

Under that methodology, adopted in the calmer days when diesel prices were not setting new records every day, the public must now wait until June 1, when the new tariffs are supposed to be approved.

In ANTA’s view, the process has not been blocked and is moving forward within the law.

Fuel Prices Keep Rising

It turns out that the government has not forgotten that prices have in fact risen and that this has affected the profitability of transport services.

According to ANTA, the Ministry of Infrastructure is currently promoting a resolution that would allow temporary tariffs to be introduced if diesel prices rise by more than 30% within 30 days. It is promoting it, but has not yet pushed it through.

Carriers Still Paying the Price

Meanwhile, fuel prices continue to rise, and carriers continue to cover that increase out of their own pockets. Whether those reserves will last until June remains an open question.

In this situation, the agency’s response is unlikely to satisfy them.
