Despite optimistic statements from Dorin Junghietu, many gas stations, especially in the north of the country, have stopped selling diesel fuel.
The day before, the Minister of Energy visited several gas stations and reported on camera that everything was fine: there were no queues, gasoline and diesel were available, and existing reserves would last for a long time.
“Supplies are continuing, and there is no reason for concern. The reserves confirmed this morning, both at the warehouse in the Port of Giurgiulești and at the storage facilities of fuel companies, ensure more than 20 days of gasoline consumption and approximately 13–14 days of diesel consumption,” Junghietu noted.
However, the internet did not believe the minister and showed the opposite. A member of the political executive committee of the Congresul Civic, Mikhail Polyansky, posted photos on his Telegram channel showing eight gas stations where instead of a price for diesel there were zeros or empty spaces.
Later, the minister acknowledged that there was indeed a problem. According to him, the issue is not a shortage of fuel but price regulation — some gas stations are refusing to sell diesel because the maximum price set by ANRE (the National Agency for Energy Regulation) is unprofitable for them. At the same time, he demonstrated a lack of authority to intervene, stating that he cannot interfere and referring to the freedom of entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, oil prices on global markets have started rising again. After retreating from Monday’s peak levels, when quotations reached almost $120 per barrel, to around $80, oil is once again trading in the three-digit range.
