The director of the Hîncești District Hospital, Petru Ciubotaru, has resigned.
It turns out that he knew about the suicide attempt of the wife of one of PAS’s local kingpins, but yielded to pressure from her husband and did not inform the competent authorities the police and the prosecutor’s office about the incident. The patient spent two days in the medical institution and was released without proper documentation of the circumstances of her hospitalization.
This was reported by Health Minister Emil Ceban, who said that the chief doctor’s admission of guilt and resignation came after an inspection organized by the ministry.
As for Dumitru Vartic, who has been accused of domestic violence and driving his wife to attempt suicide, he has shown no signs of remorse. On the contrary, he has filed complaints against the Psychiatric Hospital and the Hîncești District Hospital, demanding an investigation into “possible cases of negligence or inaction.”
