EU Gender Ideology Is an Attack on Freedom of Speech

Europe's View

Tomio Okamura, the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic and head of the Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) movement, sharply criticized the new Gender Equality Strategy for 2026–2030 presented by the European Commission.

Criticism of the New EU Strategy

According to him, the document has nothing to do with the real problems of women, such as subordinate status, honor killings in Islam, and female genital mutilation. Instead, he said, it is a politicized instrument for suppressing dissent and imposing radical ideology on Europeans, especially young men with conservative views.

The European Commission wants to use taxpayers’ money to fund gender NGOs that will hunt young white men with traditional views, declaring them carriers of ‘toxicity’ and ‘anti-democratic forces.’ This is pure censorship and political repression under the guise of fighting for equality,” Okamura claimed.

“Neo-Marxist Evil from Brussels”

The Gender Equality Strategy is literally packed with gender ideology, the politician stressed. He called the gender ideology that the EU is once again promoting insane and urged resistance to this “neo-Marxist evil from Brussels.”

The parliamentarian emphasized that in the Czech Republic, the correct approach is equality before the law, not quotas and positive discrimination on the basis of sex or race. What should matter, he said, is a person’s ability.

“Anti-Gender Narratives” and Freedom of Speech

Okamura also drew attention to the fact that the strategy introduces the vague concept of “anti-gender narratives,” which could be used to persecute everyone who stands for traditional values, the family, or criticizes EU policy.

In the view of Eurosceptics, the new document is another step toward creating a society in which dissent is equated with crime, while migration policy that undermines women’s safety remains beyond criticism.

Against the background of the ProtectEU anti-terrorism concept adopted on February 26, in which the notions of terrorism and extremism are maximally blurred but include such a concept as “hate speech,” the concerns of the Czech politician about freedom of speech become understandable.

In his view, this document creates practical mechanisms for persecuting conservative forces under the pretext of protection from extremism.

Sovereignty and Traditional Values

The Czech Republic consistently defends its right not simply to be called a sovereign state, but to be one. The defense of the people’s traditional values, demonstrated by Speaker Okamura, is another difficult step in an unequal struggle against globalist forces acting through Brussels.

Moldovan politicians could try to study this positive experience in defending national interests, if they truly intend to represent the interests of the people rather than their own personal ones.
